Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field required for Jr; Master's or PhD for advanced levels.
• Proficient in Java and C++ (approximately 50/50 effort).
• Experience with scripting languages Bash, Perl, Python.
• Proficiency in Linux development and runtimes.
• Knowledge of encryption techniques and data-at-rest protection.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+ certification are required.

Davidson is seeking a Jr. to Mid-Level Software Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama to support the Integrated Battle Command System's (IBCS) Infrastructure, Services, and Libraries (ISL) team.

In the Software Engineer role on the ISL Team, you will collaborate closely with hardware and systems engineers to design, integrate, test, and sustain mission-critical command and control (C2) software used by warfighters and customers around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and software systems that implement logical and mathematical solutions for Global C2 missions.
• Participate on Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Scrum teams to develop and maintain software products across multiple software baselines.
• Perform software development and upgrades in multiple programming languages/versions while minimizing changes to the operational behavior of tactical software.
• Provide software sustainment support including log file maintenance, RTI/DDS publish/subscribe configuration, software version tracking, data recording and playback, and Interactive Data Language (IDL) management.
• Support Help Desk-like troubleshooting on software test lines and environments.
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability; be willing to learn new technologies and operate outside of your comfort zone as mission and program needs evolve.
• Support documentation creation and updates using Markdown and other collaboration tools.
• Support testing activities including unit and functional testing, code coverage analysis, and static code analysis.

Basic Job Requirements:

• Jr. Level Software Engineer- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in STEM field and 0 years of experience.
• Mid-Level Software Engineer- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree in STEM field and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in STEM field and 0 years
• Current CompTIA Security+
• Active Secret Clearance

Required Qualifications:

• Strong software development experience with:
  • Java (approximately 50% of effort)
  • C++ (approximately 50% of effort)
• Experience with scripting languages and tools, including:
• Bash (key skills: SSH and SCP)
• Perl
• Python
• Proficiency in Linux-based development and runtime environments.
• Experience with modern configuration management and source control tools (Git / GitLab).
• Knowledge of encryption techniques and data-at-rest preservation.

Desired (not required) Qualifications:

• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including Cameo or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks, continuous integration, and test automation.
• Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience supporting real-time or distributed systems using RTI/DDS publish/subscribe middleware.

Clearance:

• Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance
