The Jr. Sous Chef works alongside the Sous Chef to ensure efficient kitchen operations and high-quality food preparation. Responsibilities include preparing menu items, maintaining food costs, inventory management, and ensuring food safety standards. The role requires open availability, professional presentation, interpersonal skills, self-direction, and management abilities.

This position offers an hourly wage of $25 to $27. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with matching, paid time off, and more.

Peak is a premium restaurant located on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards, offering panoramic views of New York City and situated above Edge, the city's highest outdoor observation deck.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure profitable kitchen operations by crafting and executing a distinctive menu.
  2. Manage food costs through inventory and product tracking.
  3. Maintain culinary standards and consistency.
  4. Assist in food prep and ensure proper stock levels during service.
  5. Keep the workspace clean and organized.
  6. Adhere to food safety and handling procedures.
  7. Support administrative tasks like inventory and ordering.
  8. Train and mentor kitchen staff.
  9. Monitor food quality and presentation standards.
  10. Follow all safety regulations.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in an upscale restaurant.
  • Serve Safe certification.
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and lead a team.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and long hours.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
