Job summary

KBR in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Jr Software Developer Astro Engineer to contribute to defense-focused software projects. You will work across stacks using Python, Java, C++, and Go, building secure, containerized apps on Kubernetes/Docker, and advancing CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments.

Ideal candidates have hands-on web development experience, familiarity with Agile/DevSecOps, and skills with GitLab, Ansible, Terraform, and AWS.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Top Secret with SCI.
• 2 years’ experience with Kubernetes or Docker
• 2 years developing web-based applications
• Develop and implement end-to-end cluster and application lifecycles
• Good grasp of Agile, Agile XP, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript, Vue.Js, Angular and or React
• Experience with scripting languages Python, Bash, Powershell
• Knowledge of version control systems like Gitlab
• Experience in software systems development using CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Passionate about automation, system efficiency and security
• Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools

Responsibilities

• Work across multiple technology stacks, gaining hands-on experience with various languages, frameworks, and tools to support a broad range of applications
• Work in languages such as Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, and GoLang, among other languages to deliver industry standard application functionality
• Work with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, Oracle, MySQL, and others
• Design, develop, and implement secure, end-to-end Kubernetes or Docker-based cluster and application lifecycles
• Participate in software development using CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on security and automation
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to architect containerized solutions and cloud-native applications
• Apply GitOps principles for automated and reliable deployment processes
• Implement DevSecOps best practices, ensuring security is integrated at every stage of the development lifecycle
• Ensure effective log management and use analytics tools for system monitoring and optimization.
• Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate security checks, deployment processes, and routine DevOps task
• Leverage AWS cloud services and other cloud platforms to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security
• Contribute to the development of secure network configurations and cloud-based security architecture
• Maintain strong familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies to enhance operational efficiency

Basic Compensation

$110,000 - $130,000 (For Colorado Springs, CO Only)

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
