Job summary

Giants Ridge in Minnesota is seeking Junior Snowboard Instructors for the 2026-2027 winter season. The program welcomes individuals aged 14–16 by September 1, 2026, and offers hands-on teaching experience while learning alongside seasoned instructors.

As a Jr. Instructor, you will help with lessons, contribute to a safe learning environment, and build leadership skills with a supportive team on the slopes. Training days are scheduled in November and December 2026.

Qualifications

  • Proficient snowboard ability required.
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing attitude with willingness to take on assignments.
  • Strong communication and guest service skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Clear English speech and comprehension for guests and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Snowboard Instructor in teaching skiing and/or snowboarding to guests and school groups.
  • Demonstrate and communicate knowledge of teaching snow sports.
  • Assist in organizing students into groups and getting them ready for lessons.
  • Direct guests to ticketing and equipment fitting areas.
  • Maintain excellent customer service while interacting with guests, coaches and athletes.
  • Assist in daily setup and takedown of the Mountain Sports School.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Junior Instructors will be introduced to working opportunities within the Snow Sports industry. This position introduces Junior Instructors to skills needed to work and connect with leaders in the Mountain Sports School. Working as a Junior Instructor will provide an educational pathway while earning national recognition as a Junior Instructor. This is a seasonal position and Junior Instructors must be 14 year of age or older.

Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Assists the Snowboard Instructor in teaching skiing and/or snowboarding to guests and school groups.
  • Is knowledgeable in the principles and application of teaching snow sports, demonstrates and communicates that knowledge clearly and positively.
  • Assists in organizing students into groups, getting kids ready for their lesson time, assisting student with riding various lifts.
  • Directs guests to appropriate departments for ticket purchasing and equipment fitting.
  • Maintains excellent customer service while interacting with guests, coaches and athletes.
  • Assists in the daily set-up and take down of the Mountain Sports School.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Ability to snowboard at a proficient level.
  • Ability to be enthusiastic and outgoing, accepting all assignment with equal enthusiasm.
  • Strong communication and guest service skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of guests and coworkers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by guests and coworkers in English.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Junior Instructors are between 14-16 years of age and must be 14 years old by September 1, 2026.
  • Ability to work outside in all winter weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must have sight, speech and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
  • Ability to commit to Junior Instructor training days in mid-November and early December.
  • Ability to work assigned weekends and holidays.
