Job summary

BAPKO Metal Inc. in Orange, CA is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to assist project engineers and help establish project criteria. You will support sequencing, detailing, fabrication orders, and communication with the project team.

You will import design drawings into EPM/Trimble Connect, track submittals, RFIs, and updates to status reports while attending site visits as needed. This is a hands-on role with growth opportunities in a reputable steel contractor.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree preferred.
• Computer skills and ability to learn new programs.
• Strong organization, verbal, and written communications.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist project engineers in sequencing and basic detailing setup including shop drawings.
• Prepare Fabrication Orders, Sequencing and Lotting.
• Monitor submittals, approvals and shop fabrication releases.
• Identify delays or problems and inform management.
• Assist PM in submittals and RFIs to General Contractor.
• Import design drawings into EPM and update addenda and ASIs.
• Update Project Tracking Log and detailing status reports.
• Attend site visits, kickoff meetings, and visit job site as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

The purpose of this position is to assist Project Engineers and help establish the criteria by which project success will be measured.

Core Responsibilities

• Completion of all software training including but not limited to EPM & Trimble Connect.
• Assist project engineers in project sequencing and basic detailing job setup including shop and erection drawings and preparation of Fabrication Orders, Sequencing and Lotting.
• Monitors project schedules regarding submittals, approvals and shop fabrication releases.
• Identify and communicate possible delays or problems to project management team
• Assist Project Manager in preparation of submittals and RFIs and transmitting to the General Contractor.
• Responsible for importing all design drawings into EPM including all new Addenda, Bulletins, & ASIs and ensure the design plans are up to date.
• Responsible for updating the Project Tracking Log & Detailing Status Reports.
• Attend initial project site visit, project kick-off meeting, and visit job site as needed
• Other duties and task as assigned
