Job summary

Mettler Toledo AG is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer Jr. to assist in evaluating and optimizing manufacturing methods using lean tools.

This role focuses on shop-floor process design, work instruction development, and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency in production. You will partner with engineering and operations to reduce waste, improve OEE, and train teams in Lean methodologies across product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design and execution of new manufacturing processes and equipment layouts to improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Develop, maintain, and train manufacturing work instructions across production for all product models and lines.
  • Support cost savings initiatives and kaizens with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Provide daily tactical support to Manufacturing and operations on the shop floor.
  • Act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing to resolve process challenges.
  • Assist in creating efficient processes focusing on elimination of waste across the company.
  • Work with leadership to define current and future state Value Streams for continuous improvements.
  • Mentor teams on Lean tools: VSM, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, Design for Lean, MDI.
  • Collaborate to optimize work center layout, space, material flow, and process to boost productivity.
  • Coordinate with planning and design on tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Support change management by communicating changes to employees and enabling learning and growth.
  • Help optimize bench strength in manufacturing.
  • Assist with new material setup by updating routings and work center data.

Job description

The Process Improvement Engineer Jr. assists with the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing methods, utilizing lean tools and concepts applied to product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

  • What you will do:Assist and leverage Lean Manufacturing culture on the shop floor in the design and execution of new manufacturing processes, methodologies and equipment layouts to improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and training on manufacturing work instructions utilized across production, of all product models, production lines, and warehouse activities.
  • Support manufacturing and operational cost savings initiatives and kaizens with collaboration of other departments such as manufacturing, engineering, continuous improvement, sales, and others as required.
  • Provide daily tactical support to Manufacturing and other operational functions related to the shop floor through continuous monitoring, interaction, and direct support request.
  • Act as a liaison between Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and manufacturing, and support the resolution of any challenges that arise in the manufacturing process.
  • Assist in creating an efficient, effective, and dependable set of processes focusing on the elimination of waste in all areas of the company.
  • Work with leadership teams to define the current and future state Value Streams to plan and prioritize continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with the continuous improvement manager and peers to provide mentoring / training to manufacturing teams on the use and practice of Lean methodology and tools (VSM, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, “Design for Lean”, MDI, etc…).
  • Work with CI peers to optimize work center layout, space requirements, material flow and process to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
  • Work with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient and repeatable production methods.
  • Assist in driving change supporting cross functional decisions by communicating changes to employees and helping them learn, understand, adjust and grow with the business’s lean transformation.
  • Assist to optimize bench strength in manufacturing.
  • Support new material set up, by creating as well as, updating existing production related master data such as routings and work center setup/design.
