Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of network and systems administration experience.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, TCP/IP networking.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day admin, maintenance, and support of network and server infrastructure.
  • Support AD, file services, print services, and Microsoft technologies.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, including user accounts and licensing.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment (switches, APs, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Document changes and maintain accurate network documentation.

We are currently seeking a motivated and technically minded candidate for the position of Junior Network Administrator, located in Endicott, NY.

The Junior Network Administrator will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the organization’s network, server, and IT infrastructure. Working under the guidance of an experienced IT team, this position will assist with network administration, Microsoft-based systems, user support, equipment purchasing, and routine maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of network and server infrastructure under the direction of experienced IT personnel.
  • Support Active Directory, file services, print services, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, including user accounts, licensing, permissions, and access management.
  • Assist with the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network equipment, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN connections, and related equipment.
  • Monitor network and system performance and elevate issues requiring additional technical expertise.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, software updates, patching, and equipment upgrades under established procedures and guidance.
  • Assist with creating, modifying, and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with company policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine network, server, workstation, and connectivity issues; elevate complex or unfamiliar issues as appropriate.
  • Assist with system backups and recovery procedures and develop an understanding of the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
  • Maintain accurate network and system documentation, equipment inventories, configurations, and procedures.
  • Assist with equipment installations, replacements, technology deployments, and infrastructure projects.
  • Work with vendors and technology partners as directed to assist with service issues and infrastructure support.
  • Provide technical assistance and basic training to end users as needed.
  • Document troubleshooting activities, solutions, and system changes.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and rotational on-call support as required.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge through hands-on training, coursework, certifications, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Understand and follow applicable company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in network and systems administration.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP, Microsoft, TCP/IP networking, Ethernet and wireless networking technologies, Network switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting network, server, and workstation issues.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the team.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA Network+, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
