Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a skilled machining operator to setup and teardown machine tools, read programs and drawings, and inspect parts with precision instruments. The role offers multiple shifts with overtime opportunities and shift differentials.

The candidate will load/unload parts, monitor tools, and adjust offsets to maintain quality. A High School Diploma or GED is required along with manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience working in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Setup/teardown of machine tools; load/unload jaws, fixtures, tooling as needed.
• Download programs from central database.
• Read and understand programs to understand the process.
• Load and unload parts from machines.
• Use measuring equipment for in-process and finished product inspection (micrometers, calipers, Pi tapes, rail gauges, etc.).
• Monitor cutting tools, adjust as needed, make offsets, index or change inserts.
• Make tooling changes to improve process.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup/teardown of machine tools - Load and/or unload jaws, fixtures, tooling as needed.
• Download programs from central database.
• Read and understand programs to better understand process.
• Load and unload parts from machine.
• Utilize measuring equipment for frequent inspection of in-process and finished product to control quality through the machining process. Including micrometers, calipers, Pi tapes, rail gauges, etc.
• Monitor cutting tools and make adjustments as needed, make machine offsets and index or change inserts as needed.
• Make tooling changes as needed to improve process.
• Keep immediate area clean and orderly.

Work Schedule and Pay

Our ideal candidate is motivated by daily and weekend overtime.

• 1st Shift: Monday - Friday (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
• 2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday (4:00 PM - 2:30 AM) "4-10's"
• 2nd shift differential pay of $3/hour is in addition to base pay
• SWW Shift: Friday - Sunday (4:00 AM - 4:30 PM) "3-12's"
• SWW shift differential pay of $2/hour is in addition to base pay

Desired Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Experience working in a production and/or manufacturing environment.
• Be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Be able to work second shift Mon-Thu (4PM-2:30AM) or Special Work Week Shift Fri-Sun (4AM-4:30PM).

Summary Pay Range

$22.63 - $33.95
