Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) in Cromwell, CT is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist or Geologist to support field assessment and remediation projects in the New England area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, geology, or other related earth sciences.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Basic understanding of environmental consulting industry
  • 40 HR OSHA HAZWOPER Training (preferred)
  • Internship or relevant work experience in environmental consulting (preferred)
  • Familiarity with GIS software and data analysis tools (preferred)
  • Certification or coursework in environmental assessment or remediation (preferred)
  • Soil and groundwater sampling experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and collect soil, water, and/or air samples for laboratory analysis
  • Utilize field sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure field samples are collected under quality standards
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental assessment reports and regulatory compliance reports
  • Analyze laboratory and field monitoring data using various software tools and methodologies
  • Support senior staff and licensed professionals in developing remediation plans and environmental management strategies
  • Work directly under a Project Manager, participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution
  • Use field water level data to develop hydrographs and groundwater contour maps/flow nets
  • Participate in identification of viable remedial solutions
  • Participate in well canvasses, well searches and sensitive receptor evaluations
  • Participate in coordination and scheduling of field events
  • Perform supervisory oversight of subcontractors during field events

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, assessment, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks an entry level Environmental Scientistor Geologist to support field assessment work and environmental remediation project activities throughout the New England area out of our Cromwell, Connecticut office. We are seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist that will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental assessment projects. This position involves conducting fieldwork, collecting environmental media samples (groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment and/or air), and analyzing data to evaluate environmental conditions and impacts in accordance with the pertinent state and federal environmental regulations . The successful candidate will collaborate with senior scientists, licensed Professional Geologists, and state-specific licensed professionals in CT and MA to develop strategies for environmental protection and compliance. This role will contribute to the preparation of technical reports for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to convey findings for our diverse mix of clients and stakeholders. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that our projects meet the highest quality regulatory standards, while promoting safe and sustainable practices.

  • A combination of technical knowledge and practical skills to thrive in a collaborative and dynamic work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
