Job summary

McHugh Concrete Construction, Inc. in the Greater Chicago Area seeks an estimator for cast-in-place concrete projects. The role focuses on modeling, bid setup, and quantity takeoffs using Tekla Structures to support the Concrete Special Operations Division.

Responsibilities include managing RFIs, reviewing drawings, and coordinating with subcontractors and the project team to deliver accurate estimates on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
• Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create and convert 3D BIM models for estimates using Tekla Structures.
• Set up bids/estimates, and quantities.
• Request and track sub/supplier quotes.
• Submit and manage bid RFIs with suppliers.
• Review scopes, drawings, and bid documents for a complete estimate.
• Maintain up-to-date Bid Calendar and Bid Logs.
• Assist with project handoff on awarded projects.
• Load bid drawings and documents into project management systems.
• Independently submit and track initial RFIs and submittals.
• Track drawing revisions to keep sets current.

Role Description

Estimating cast-in-place concrete projects using modeling software for the Concrete Special Operations Division.

• Track drawing revisions when changes are issued to ensure sets are up to date until handed off to project team.
• Compare and review new construction documents for potential cost changes and coordinate/discuss findings with project teams as needed.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Industrial Engineering. Civil Engineering, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
• 1 -2 years of relevant experience is a plus, but not required.

$55,000 - $70,000
