Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Junior Electro-Optical Test Engineer to support the test and evaluation of electro-optical sensors in a laboratory environment at the United States Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, D.C. This role involves hands-on testing, data collection, and software development to support sensor performance analysis and lab capability upgrades.

Contract Length: Program is 5 years long and is in year 1

Location: NRL - Washington, D.C - Hybrid Remote

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute test plans and collect data from electro-optical sensors (visible or infrared).
• Develop and present test reports based on collected data.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Assist in upgrading laboratory testing capabilities.
• Write and maintain data acquisition and processing software using Python and MATLAB.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
• Experience testing electro-optical sensors.
• Ability to conduct hands-on testing and data collection with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in software programming for test automation and data processing (Python and MATLAB preferred).

Compensation:

• Salary range is $80,000 to $110,000 (Based on years of experience and relevant education)
• The position includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, federal holidays, and sick leave.
