Job summary

VTG is seeking a Jr. DevOps Engineer to support software deployments, Linux systems, containerized apps, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps operations at Fort Meade. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available for eligible candidates, reflecting a mission-critical role in national security initiatives.

The role involves hands-on work across Linux, containerization, networking, automation, and CI/CD pipelines, with opportunities to contribute across infra, development, and security teams.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in deployments, Linux admin, containerization and cloud/DevSecOps.

Responsibilities

• Support software and system deployments across Linux, containerized, cloud, and virtualized environments.
• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS).
• Support DevSecOps processes and automation across development, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/CAN/WAN networks.
• Administer Arista and Cisco network devices.
• Configure networks supporting front-end and back-end components.
• Develop and maintain Python and Bash automation scripts.
• Build and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab).
• Use Ansible/Terraform for IaC and config mgmt.
• Deploy and troubleshoot Docker/Kubernetes containerized apps.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters for HA, scalability and security.
• Support hybrid cloud and virtualized environments.
• Collaborate with infra, dev, security, and ops teams on deployments.

What will you do?

• Support software and system deployments across Linux, containerized, cloud, and virtualized environments.
• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux systems, particularly RHEL and CentOS.
• Support DevSecOps processes and automation across development, testing, deployment, and operational environments.
• Design, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade LAN, CAN, and WAN networks.
• Administer and configure Arista and Cisco network devices.
• Configure and optimize network infrastructure connecting front-end and back-end system components.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Bash.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitLab.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management solutions using Ansible and/or Terraform.
• Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Manage and configure Kubernetes clusters to support high availability, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Support the management and monitoring of hybrid cloud and virtualized environments.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, networking, Linux, containerization, and application integration issues.
• Work across infrastructure, development, security, and operations teams to support reliable system deployments.

Do you have what it takes?

• TS/SCI with Poly required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with:

• Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting RHEL/CentOS Linux environments.
• Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading LAN/CAN/WAN networks.
• Experience administering Arista and Cisco networking equipment.
• Experience configuring and optimizing networks supporting front-end and back-end components.
• Proficiency with Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitLab.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code/configuration-management tools such as Ansible and/or Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.Experience managing and configuring Kubernetes clusters for high availability, scalability, and security.
• Experience managing and monitoring hybrid cloud and virtualized environments.
• Active IAT II CWIP / DoD 8570-compliant certification, such as CompTIA Security+.
• Must be willing to travel.

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $100K - $150K annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
