Job summary

One Workplace in Salinas, CA is seeking an entry-level Junior Designer I to support Designers and Sales by researching, collecting data, verifying fields, and organizing project information.

The role offers a Day shift, Monday–Friday, on-site hybrid work. A Bachelor’s or AA degree is preferred, with basic CAD/SketchUp/MS Office skills and a strong willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; AA or equivalent will be considered.
  • CIDA or NAB accreditation preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of design principles: texture, color, form, and function.

Responsibilities

  • Develop basic knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.
  • Conduct basic product research and gather vendor information.
  • Assist with field verifications and inventories at project sites.
  • Support preliminary design development by assisting in organizing CAD/CET files.
  • Maintain project spreadsheets with furniture specification information.
  • Contact vendors for preliminary pricing and basic product information.

Compensation range: $22.12 - $25.28 per hour

The base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

Location: Salinas, CA (on-site hybrid)

Hours: Day shift, Monday - Friday

This is an entry-level apprentice position designed to introduce basic design concepts and foundational product knowledge. The JuniorDesigner Iprovides support to Designers and Sales personnel byassistingwith research, data collection, field verification, and organization of project information.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop basic knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.
  • Conduct basic product research and gather vendor information.
  • Assistwith field verifications and inventories at project sites.
  • Support preliminary design development byassistingin organizing CAD/CET files.
  • Maintain project spreadsheets with furniture specification information.
  • Contact vendors for preliminary pricing and basic product information.
  • Organize and document project information, including vendor lists.
  • Create, revise, and plot basic design drawings and floor plans under supervision.
  • Developvalidationpackages and spreadsheets with guidance.
  • Begin learning to specify basic products and finishes.
  • Responsible for managing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Track and managetimeentries daily.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Associate’s Arts Degree or equivalent will be considered.
  • Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) or National Architecture Board (NAB) accreditation preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Strong ambition to grow and expand designcareer.
  • Basic knowledge of design principles: texture, color, form, and function.
  • Beginnerproficiencyin AutoCAD, SketchUp, and MS Office.
  • Ability to follow instructions and takedirectioneffectively.
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and stay within task parameters.
  • Optimistic and eager to contribute to a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing, colorperception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity, and ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices, ability to get to project sites.
  • Ability to sit or stand forlong periodsof time.

Working Environment

Generally,worksin an office environment with moderate noise.Natureof work may require time spent out of the office at client location or other One Workplace offices. Reliable access to transportationrequired. Periodically works outside and may work around moving objects, dust, and dirt.
