Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) seeks a junior data scientist to provide onsite support at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

The role involves applying data science techniques to organize and archive analytic data, and to improve retrieval and summarization of studies for leadership. The candidate will use SharePoint and Microsoft tools to tag metadata, archive documents, and manage historical study materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information science, business administration, or IT-related field; or two years of formal IT training or a Microsoft IT certification.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and parse large data sets for user account and asset maintenance.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Able to report onsite based on client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support OPNAV N81F by applying data science and agentic AI techniques to automate organization and archiving of current and past analytic data, documents, and briefs.
  • Improve leadership and end user’s ability to retrieve and summarize analytic studies.
  • Leverage SharePoint and Microsoft products (Office, MS Migration tool, Sharegate, PowerShell scripting) to metadata tag, archive, and manage historical study documents.

The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

Group W provides wargaming, warfare modeling and simulation, software development, data analytics, and operations research/system analysis support to the national security mission. As a leader in the fields of campaign, mission, and wargaming analysis we embrace the cycle of research paradigm, continually seeking to improve the multi-method application of tools, data, methods, and techniques to generate credible and resilient insights to inform decisions on the Department’s most challenging issues spanning CONOPs, acquisitions, force structures, tactics, and strategies. Group W is the developer and maintainer of the Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM), the authoritative M&S tool accepted by the Joint Analytic Community for analysis of theater-level, multi-domain, joint warfare. Similarly, we developed and manage the Standard Wargame Integration and Facilitation Tool (SWIFT) for OSW as an adaptable environment to support joint force combatants’ wargaming requirements.

We have an upcoming need for a Jr. Data Scientist to provide onsite support at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA.

Support OPNAV N81F by applying data science and agentic AI techniques to automate organization and archiving of current and past analytic data, documents, and briefs. Improve leadership and end user’s ability to retrieve and summarize analytic studies. Leverage SharePoint and Microsoft products (Office, MS Migration tool, Sharegate, PowerShell scripting) to metadata tag, archive, and manage historical study documents.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer information science, business administration, or IT-related field; in lieu of degree, at least two years of formal IT training or a Microsoft IT certification.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and parse large sets of data for both user account and asset maintenance.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Able to report fully onsite based on client needs.

Desired:

  • Associate-level Microsoft Certification (MCTS or MCSA), Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Certification, or Security Plus Certification.
  • Experience in an IT-related position, to include inventory management, user/customer support, data archiving, and network troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of AI/LLM data archiving techniques.
