Position:
  • Jr. Custodian
Responsibilities:
  • Reports to the Principal/Senior Custodian to attend to problems or complaints.
  • Assists in preparing for all school functions and activities, moving and rearranging furniture and equipment under the direction of the Principal/Senior Custodian.
  • Maintains a clear, sanitary, and safe environment within kitchen/cafeteria areas as directed.
  • Assists with unloading supplies and equipment as determined by the New Bedford School Department.
  • Assists with the upkeep and maintenance of heating and ventilation systems within the building.
  • Secures the building, noting any areas requiring special attention.
  • Notifies the Principal/Senior Custodian of facilities or equipment needing repair.
  • Performs all routine and non-routine work assignments as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in all areas of the building and grounds.
  • Reflects professionalism within the Custodial Department to peers, students, and faculty.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the New Bedford School Department.
Qualifications:
  • New Bedford residency required.
Terms of Employment:
  • Reports to: Director of Facilities or Designee.
  • Rate: In accordance with the AFSCME contract.
