Job summary

Sika Schweiz AG in Shakopee, MN, is seeking an entry-level Jr. Chemist to contribute to new technology platforms for sealants and adhesives. You will perform bench research, develop new products, and provide technical support to production plants and customers.

Key activities include feasibility studies, product testing to industry standards, and documenting results. You will collaborate with sales, marketing, EHS, and production, and travel to customer sites as needed (about 10%).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Execute feasibility studies and project designs on the bench to generate meaningful data for project progression
• Test products according to Industry standards and Sika Procedures to ensure product quality and performance
• Participate in implementing new products/technologies to Sika factories
• Perform initial material testing and gain material approvals from customers
• Keep accurate records and maintain good laboratory & QC notebook practice
• Visit customer sites and provide technical solutions to customers
• Work with internal customers: sales, marketing, EHS, and production in assigned activities
• Maintain assigned equipment in good operating condition

Job description

Sika is looking for an experienced Jr. Chemist to join its growing team in Shakopee, MN. With an innovative mind for new concepts and chemistry, laboratory benchwork contributes to the development of new technology platforms for new products. Conduct basic research into chemistry that is relevant to sealants and adhesives and their applications. Develop new products. Provide technical support to production plants and customers.

Specific Responsibilities

• Execute feasibility studies and project designs on the bench to generate meaningful data for project progression
• Be organized, have a strong attention to detail, and effectively multitask projects
• Test products according to Industry standards and Sika Procedures to ensure product quality and performance
• Participate in implementing new products/technologies to Sika factories
• Perform initial material testing and gain material approvals from customers
• Initiate and attend technical presentations from raw material suppliers
• Keep accurate records and maintain good laboratory & QC notebook practice
• Visit customer sites and provide technical solutions to customers
• Work with internal customers: sales, marketing, EHS, and production in assigned activities
• Participate in and contribute to TC Shakopee Safety, Nuage and 5S activities and interact with other Sika global platforms
• Maintain a safe, tidy and harassment free work environment
• Provide accurate and detailed reports using good data collection and analytic skills
• Maintain assigned equipment in good operating condition
• Attend all necessary training requested by the company
