Job summary

Paycom seeks a Journeyman Electrician to diagnose, repair and maintain electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial setting. You will support manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot PLCs, drives, and controls, and ensure safe operation in compliance with electrical codes.

You must hold a Minnesota electrician license, have journeyman experience, and be capable of traveling for field service while maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must have MN Electrician License and be a licensed journeyman or seasoned apprentice willing to obtain journeyman status.
  • Two years of journeyman experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints/schematics.
  • Two years of experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields with high proficiency.
  • Educational background includes a high school diploma and two years of formal technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power generation equipment.
  • Plan and perform work with knowledge of electrical codes and safety procedures.
  • Install, start up and shut down equipment per safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Advise operators and line mechanics on operation procedures and safety requirements.
  • Maintain maintenance and performance records for identified equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and assist with technical troubleshooting.
  • Travel for field service as needed and work overtime when required.

OVERVIEW:The Journeyman Electrician will conduct, maintain, test and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components in an industrial setting primarily on Aggregate Equipment Power Systems. Apply knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provide skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Troubleshoot and repair Electrical systems/components controlling mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and power generation equipment in an Industrial setting including but not limited to Programmable/Numeral Controls, PLC’s, Drives, VFD’s, Switch Gear Panels and Power Supplies, Sensors, Gauges and Test EquipmentPlans and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipmentInstalls, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirementsAdvises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and componentsInforms appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involvedMaintains fixtures from blueprints, schematics and sketches or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience1-2 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areasExperience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentA thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposesHigh degree of precision working with minimum tolerances requiredExposed to high voltage electricityRequires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an insurable driving recordAbility to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair workMust be highly safety consciousMust be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshootingWilling to work any shift and overtime as requiredMust be willing to travel as there may be some overnight field service work involved from time to time, this may also include traveling with very short notice at times
