Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Journeymen Cost Estimator to support the Aerial Networks Division at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA. The role requires a Secret clearance and experience with ACEIT for DoD estimates, with salary range of $105–$115k annually.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and multiple years of DoD experience or equivalent certifications, with full-time salaried status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, three of which must be in the DoD.
• OR seven years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, five of which must be in the DoD.
• Experience using ACEIT Tool Suite to perform government program office estimates and analyses.
• Must have and be able to maintain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manage, oversee/lead, or perform scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.
• Analyze management problems and provide advice about the probable effects of alternative solutions.
• Use routine cost estimating methods such as analogy, engineering or scientific methodology, and extrapolation.
• Use cost estimating outputs to assess cost drivers for design, research, development, operations, maintenance, and disposal of weapon systems.
• Determine the appropriate phase of the budgetary cycle to initiate new programs.

Journeymen Cost Estimator

SALARY RANGE: $105-$115,000 annually*

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Journeymen Cost Estimator supporting the Aerial Networks Division (AFLCMC/HNA), which is within the Cyber and Networks Directorate, located at Hanscom AFB in Bedford Massachusetts.

Required Qualifications / Skills

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoD
• OR, seven years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the PWS labor category performance requirements, five of which must be in the DoD.
• Experience using the Automated Cost Estimating Integrated Tools (ACEIT) Tool Suite to perform government program office estimates and analyses.

• Use of cost estimating outputs to assess the impact various factors have on the costs to design, research, develop, operate, maintain, and dispose of a particular weapon system.
• Most appropriate phase of the budgetary cycle (planning, programming, justification, execution, etc.) for initiating new programs
• Analyze all elements affecting costs for a project of limited scope
• Analyze Contractor financial data using EVM measures of merit to determine program viability with respect to cost, schedule, and performance
• Use of the Automated Cost Estimating Integrated Tools (ACEIT) Suite to perform all program office estimates and analyzes is mandatory use for working in the C3I&N Directorate (AFLCMC/HN) for all cost analysis positions
• Analytical processes, such as setting up the problem, conducting background research, collecting, and reducing data, displaying data for analysis, formulizing mathematical expressions, and drawing conclusions
• Compliance with all cost estimating guidance including the appropriate DoD, Air Force, AFMC, AFLCMC, or lower-level policy, publications, supplements, manuals, etc., as well as applicable documents and regulations, systems, processes, and guides, as required.
