Job summary

Multi-Craft Contractors, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder to join our fabrication team. The role requires reading blueprints, selecting welding methods, and setting up parts for welding across multiple positions.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and measurements to plan layout and procedures.

• Align components using calipers and clamps.
• Weld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
• Repair machinery by welding and filling gaps.

• Supervise machines or robots performing automated welding.

Job description

Essential Duties

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.


• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.


• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).


• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.


• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.


• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).


• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.


• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.


• Supervise machines or robots that perform automated welding tasks.

Education & Training

• High school diploma or equivalent, required


• Certification may be required

• Working knowledge of welding, structural brake forming and other fabrication processes along with automated welding techniques


• Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW)
