Job summary

Fort Bend ISD in Stafford, TX is seeking a journeyman plumber to perform skilled plumbing work in school district facilities. You will install and repair fixtures, test back flow preventors, and maintain sprinkler systems as part of a team responsible for safe, code-compliant operations.

The role requires at least 4 years under a Master Plumber, a valid TX license, and the ability to read plans and lead junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Journeyman or Tradesman License.
• Back-Hoe Operator License preferred and/or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Back-Flow Diverter Certification preferred and/or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working under a Master Plumber
• Strong knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices and tools used in the commercial/industrial plumbing trade
• Good knowledge of national, state and local plumbing and gas codes; safety precautions of the trade
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, schematics and manufacturer manuals
• Ability to plan and layout work projects and estimate time/materials needed
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain good interpersonal relationships

Responsibilities

• Perform journeyman level plumbing work; install and repair fixtures such as sinks, commodes, urinals, showers, drinking fountains, icemakers, and water heaters.
• Install and test back flow preventors; maintain and repair sprinkler systems.
• Cut, ream, thread, solder, glue and connect pipes and fittings (metal, copper, plastic).
• Replace defective fixtures, regulators, controls, traps, valves, faucets, washers and gaskets.
• Plan and layout work projects using arithmetic computations.
• Review work orders and building plans; procure materials and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes; maintain safe worksite.
• Keep records and prepare reports of work accomplished and materials used.
• May supervise one or more employees and provide guidance and training.
