GMS is seeking an experienced Project Pipe Fitter to support active mechanical projects across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. This role supports installation, modification, and repair work on commercial and government facilities. The position requires strong technical ability, strict adherence to safety standards, and the discipline to meet project schedules and quality expectations.

Where: Baltimore/ Annapolis Corridor

Pay: $51.13/hr- affiliated with the Local 486

Responsible for:

  • Installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems for HVAC and mechanical applications.
  • The work includes screw pipe, copper, welded piping, and specialty mechanical systems found in commercial buildings, federal environments, data centers, laboratories, military bases, and industrial facilities.
  • The role requires a solid understanding of system layout, blueprint reading, and field coordination with project managers, foremen, and other trades.

The role requires the ability to:

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Candidates must understand HVAC systems such as chilled water, heating water, steam, condenser water, refrigerant piping, and gas piping.
  • They must be familiar with installation requirements for valves, pumps, strainers, hangers, supports, vibration isolation components, and other related equipment.
  • They must also understand pressure testing, flushing, and system commissioning support.

Licensing and Certification:

  • Either MD/VA/DC Journeyman HVAC license
  • CFC Universal
  • OSHA-10 or 30 Safety training

Qualifications:

  • Clean personal record
  • Clean background
