Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.Job SummaryPrepares various surfaces and applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, and lacquer to exterior and interior surfaces, trimming, and fixtures of buildings and other structures. Performs paint and varnish removal, putty work, etc. may also cover room interiors with wallpaper or other fabrics. Keeps records required for specific jobs. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position.
Essential Functions- Paints and refinishes various surfaces with enamel, lacquer, varnish, stain.
- Paints with brushes, rollers, and spraying equipment.
- Performs color matching as required.
- Prepares surfaces for paint by sandblasting, scraping, sanding, patching, plastering, and spackling.
- Erects and takes down scaffolding.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and truck used in work assignments.
- Responsible for planning work as assigned, assuring a high-quality finished product.
- Leaves the work area clean and safe when job is completed.
- Layout and paint parking lots, Driver’s Ed. Courses, and game courts.
- Must have blueprint and construction drawing literacy.
- Participates in job compliance requirements of apprentices in techniques, equipment, safety, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates with contract service and material vendors on projects.
- May be assigned to participate in organizations, committees, and sub-committees.

Required Education and QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Must have three (3) years of full-time job-related experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Required Prior ExperienceMust have three (3) years of full-time job-related experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Skilled in the use of hand tools, cleaning supplies, small power tools, methods of ventilating spaces, respirators, air compressors, spray equipment, ladders, ladder jacks, planks, personnel lifts, bucket truck and steel scaffolding in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Must have good working knowledge of relevant building and safety codes including pertinent aspects of OSHA, EPA, MSDS, and ADA.
- Must have basic mathematical skills.
- Must be skilled in oral and written communications and interpersonal relations.
- Must be able to plan work and organize apprentices, materials, and equipment for specific projects.
- Some knowledge of glazing, floor coverings, and ceiling tiles.
- Must keep abreast of changing developments in techniques.
Assigned Decision MakingTakes measures to ensure safety of self and others.
May consult with administrators, teachers, co-workers, to assist in the timely completion of projects.
Assists in planning work projects.
Assures that each assignment has sufficient tools, materials, and supplies.
Determines repairs and replacement of equipment.

Must be able to perform assigned tasks without on-site supervision.
Interactions with OthersInteracts positively with students, teachers, principals, district personnel and other outside vendors or agencies.
Supervisory ResponsibilityRequires the ability to motivate apprentices. Makes specific work assignments and monitor performance of assigned employees. May assist in evaluations of apprentices.
Budget ResponsibilityFinancially responsible to maintain and track purchase card usage and follow purchasing guidelines.
Maintaining and tracking of inventory.
Working EnvironmentMay be subject to high locations, awkward positions, heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, confined spaces. May experience occasional stress from emergencies and in meeting project deadlines. Some district emergencies may require additional irregular hours. Interruptions may occur while performing work requiring accuracy and concentration.

Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.

- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
