Job summary

Trace Systems Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Network Engineer to deliver Tier II support for EACN at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The role covers sensitive DoD networks in a 24/7 environment with a focus on security, compliance, and upgrades.

Qualified candidates will have a Secret clearance, DoD 8140 readiness, and 3+ years in enterprise network operations. The assignment includes coordinating with government engineers and adhering to STIG requirements.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship required due to contract work.
  • DoD 8140 qualification requirements for network operations role.
  • Bachelors/Associate degree or military training in related field accepted.
  • DoD 8140 certifications or equivalents considered.
  • 3+ years in enterprise LAN/WAN network administration/engineering.
  • CCNA certification either current or obtainable within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, implement, and support LAN/WAN infrastructure and data exchange.

  • Support hardware/software replacements and site installations.
  • Monitor progress for design compliance and telecom standards.

Job Overview

Job Title: Journeyman Network Engineer

Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington

Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking a Journeyman Network Engineer to provide Tier II network infrastructure and operational support for EACN at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This mission-essential position supports classified and unclassified A2G2 services in a 24/7/365 operating environment. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.

  • Configure, implement, and support EACN LAN/WAN infrastructure, operating systems, and computer data exchange requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, repair or replace, configure, monitor, and upgrade classified and unclassified network equipment and systems.
  • Support replacement of end-of-life hardware and software and perform approved installation, transition, and cutover activities.
  • Review installation progress for accuracy, adherence to network design, and conformance with telecommunications standards.
  • Support and maintain A2G2 hardware configurations and approved site-installation requirements.
  • Configure and maintain network security, monitoring, and analytics tools, including ServiceNow, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
  • Implement and report USCYBERCOM, DISA, and Air Force tasking orders and STIG requirements.
  • Validate security changes in the test environment before operational implementation and provide compliance status to Government engineers and the ISSM.

In compliance with applicable state and local pay transparency requirements, the following compensation information is provided for this position. The base salary range represents the minimum and maximum compensation Trace reasonably expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.

Salary Minimum: $75,000

Salary Maximum: $95,000

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 441 Network Operations Specialist, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
  • Qualifying credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
  • Qualifying certifications may include CEH, Cloud+, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
  • 3+ years of network administration or engineering experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Experience with Cisco routing and switching, network monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and DISA STIG compliance.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, weekends, and federal holidays in support of 24/7/365 mission operations.
Desired Qualification
  • Experience supporting EACN, A2G2, Air Force networks, classified systems, or 24/7 network operations.
  • Experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, ServiceNow, network-security tools, and telecommunications cutovers.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
  • Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
