Job summary

Trace Systems Inc. seeks a Journeyman Network Engineer to support EACN at Scott AFB, IL, providing Tier II network infra and 24/7/365 operations. You will configure, troubleshoot, and upgrade classified and unclassified networks, while aligning with STIGs and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government Top Secret clearance.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Meet DoD 8140 qualification requirements; 8140 Work Roles and credentials.
• Qualifying 8140 certifications may include CEH, Cloud+, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications.
• 3+ years of network administration or engineering experience in enterprise LAN/WAN.
• Current CCNA certification, or ability to obtain within six months.
• DoD-approved IA baseline certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience with Cisco routing and switching, DISA STIG compliance, documentation.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and federal holidays in a 24/7/365 environment.

Responsibilities

• Configure, implement, and support EACN LAN/WAN infrastructure and data exchange requirements.
• Troubleshoot, repair or replace, configure, monitor, and upgrade network equipment and systems.
• Support replacement of end-of-life hardware/software and conduct installations and cutovers.
• Review installation progress for accuracy and conformance with network design and standards.
• Maintain A2G2 hardware configurations and site-installation requirements.
• Configure and maintain network security, monitoring, and analytics tools (ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Splunk).
• Implement and report USCYBERCOM, DISA, and Air Force tasking orders and STIGs.
• Validate security changes in test env and provide compliance status to Government engineers and ISSM.

Job Overview

Job Title: Journeyman Network Engineer

Location: Scott AFB, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking a Journeyman Network Engineer to provide Tier II network infrastructure and operational support for EACN at Scott AFB. This mission-essential position supports classified and unclassified A2G2 services in a 24/7/365 operating environment.

The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.

• Configure, implement, and support EACN LAN/WAN infrastructure, operating systems, and computer data exchange requirements.
• Troubleshoot, repair or replace, configure, monitor, and upgrade classified and unclassified network equipment and systems.
• Support replacement of end-of-life hardware and software and perform approved installation, transition, and cutover activities.
• Review installation progress for accuracy, adherence to network design, and conformance with telecommunications standards.
• Support and maintain A2G2 hardware configurations and approved site-installation requirements.
• Configure and maintain network security, monitoring, and analytics tools, including ServiceNow, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
• Implement and report USCYBERCOM, DISA, and Air Force tasking orders and STIG requirements.
• Validate security changes in the test environment before operational implementation and provide compliance status to Government engineers and the ISSM.

In accordance with the Illinois Equal Pay Act, the following pay scale and benefits information is being provided as required for positions subject to Illinois pay transparency requirements.

Salary Minimum: $72,000

Salary Maximum: $92,000

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the Trace salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Minimum Qualifications

• Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
• Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
• Candidates must meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role. DoD 8140 Work Role(s): 441 Network Operations Specialist, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; and may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
• Qualifying 8140 credentials include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity or Data Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or Software Engineering or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
• Qualifying 8140 certifications may include CEH, Cloud+, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
• 3+ years of network administration or engineering experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
• Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
• DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
• Experience with Cisco routing and switching, network monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and DISA STIG compliance.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, weekends, and federal holidays in support of 24/7/365 mission operations.

Desired Qualification

• Experience supporting EACN, A2G2, Air Force networks, classified systems, or 24/7 network operations.
• Experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, ServiceNow, network-security tools, and telecommunications cutovers.
• Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
• Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
