Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join the Facilities team. The role covers maintenance and operation of MV distribution systems and substations, with duties ranging from switchgear work to lighting upgrades and control panel improvements.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in industrial settings, completed Substation Maintenance I/II training, and strong interpretation of schematics.

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of 5+ years of Electrician journeyman level experience in industrial/commercial settings.
Completion of Substation Maintenance I training and Substation Maintenance II training (AVO or equivalent).
Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meters, and other test equipment.
Efficient in sizing conductors, conduits and NEC Code.
Experienced in operating low voltage to 480 VAC and up to 34.5 kV.

Responsibilities

Operate MV substation apparatus and distribution equipment.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints for maintenance and repairs.
Perform wiring upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting to maintain electrical systems at varying power levels.
Interpret diagrams, P&IDs, and schematics and consult manuals.
Produce parts lists and work plans from drawings or field walks.
Ensure safety and work planning with a focus on electrical hazards.
