Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join the facilities operations team to support maintenance and operations across our industrial electrical systems, including substation work and medium voltage distribution up to 34.5 kV.

You will read schematics, troubleshoot diverse equipment, coordinate with teams, and uphold safety standards. The role requires at least five years of journeyman experience and a readiness to work in a dynamic, sustainability-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years as Electrician journeyman in industrial or commercial settings.
  • Completion of Substation Maintenance I training.
  • Completion of Substation Maintenance II training.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot MV substation equipment up to 34.5 kV.
  • Operate MV distribution equipment and substation apparatus.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Collaborate with the facilities organization and other teams.
  • Uphold safety procedures and produce accurate work plans.

Medium Voltage Electrician, Facilities

Redwood Materials is looking for a motivated and accomplished Journeyman Electrician to join thefacilitiesoperationsteam to workinallareasofindustrialelectricalmaintenance and operations. This will include oursubstation and medium voltage distribution system. Skills in all areas of electrical are not necessarily required, but the job can and will involve a variety of electricalsub-disciplines and a strong candidate will be able to perform a variety of electrical tasks fromsubstation maintenance and operation, powerdistributionswitching, lighting and control panelupgradesto low voltagecontrolstroubleshooting and repair.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Working as a teammemberwith the entirefacilities organization, as wellas allotherorganizations within Redwood Materials.
  • Operating variousMV(up to 34.5kV)substationapparatusanddistributionequipment.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting various types of electricalsystems, equipment, andcomponents.
  • Readingand understandingelectrical schematics and blueprintsin ordertomaintain, operate, and repair electrical systemsof varying power levels.
  • Consulting manuals, reading and interpreting diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Performing a wide variety of job scopes.
  • Displaying a positive attitude and practicing good work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company.
  • Completing tasks in a timely manner and providing feedback to internal teams.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of Electrician journeyman level or higher experience in industrial or commercial settings
  • Completion ofSubstationMaintenanceI training(as per AVO TrainingInstituteor equivalent)
  • Ability to completeSubstationMaintenance II training(as per AVO TrainingInstituteor equivalent)
  • Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meters, andothertest equipment
  • Efficient in sizing conductors, conduits and using NEC Code Book.
  • Experienced in handling low voltage to 480 VAC.
  • Experiencedinoperatingmedium voltageto 34.5kV.
  • Knowledge in installing and troubleshooting of PLCs, motor controls, drives, and electronic components a plus.
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics.
  • Ability to install electrical equipment and circuit modification.
  • Ability to produce parts lists and work plans based off drawings or field walks and routing.
  • Ability to produce as-built drawing for work performed.
  • Ability to complete job scopes outside of normal core competencies as required.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety with the ability to thoroughly evaluate job hazards and complete pre-work task planning with an emphasis on identifying electrical hazards and proper safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in high elevation up to 60 ft. high.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management; must have a high degree of initiative, and the ability to work alone and effectively with other people

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, and carry objects over 50 lbs..
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs carrying weight.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
Working Conditions:
  • Environment, such as office or outdoors and inclement weather conditions.
  • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, fires, or extreme heat/cold.
  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
  • Required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as an occasionalpart of the job.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
