Job summary

Comfort Systems USA in Lexington, KY seeks a skilled Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work, performing sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, gasket and valve work, and torqueing to spec in active job sites.

You will read drawings and specs, maintain safety with LOTO, carry out tool and equipment handling, and communicate status to supervision while traveling to construction sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in active job environments.
• Must be able to travel to construction sites as needed.
• Proper tool use including torque tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements and perform isolation, removal/replacement, reassembly, and checks per job requirements.
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools.
• Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) per procedure and verify zero-energy state.
• Read and work from drawings, specs, and work orders to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman.
