Job summary

Port Townsend Paper Corporation in Port Townsend, WA is hiring a Journey Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This is hands-on work maintaining, repairing, aligning and troubleshooting heavy mill equipment in a demanding industrial environment.

The role requires reading blueprints and schematics, performing welding, machining, rigging and fabrication, and completing safety and pre-employment checks. This is a union position represented by the United Steelworkers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on trade experience.
• 5+ years mechanical trade experience or 2 years journey-level experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings and schematics.
• Experience with welding, machining, rigging or fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot industrial machinery and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, equipment drawings and schematics.
• Disassemble and reassemble machinery using hand and power tools.
• Install and maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and mill equipment.
• Align machinery and equipment using precision measuring tools.
• Repair, replace and lubricate mechanical components.
• Perform machining and fabrication work as needed.
• Weld, cut, fit, rig and perform mechanical maintenance.
• Document work in the maintenance management system.
