Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete preventative maintenance to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Identify sources of problems by observing machinery in operation, listening for problems, using testing equipment, analyzing test results, reviewing machine error messages, and interpreting schematics.
  • Examine parts for defects and remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, hand tools and power tools.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using calipers, micrometers and other measuring devices.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts of mechanical equipment and fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock and anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through workshops, technical publications and personal networks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Cooperate with regulatory inspectors and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules and never remove or disable protective devices such as guards or light curtains.
  • Operate only equipment that the employee is trained to use and in a manner that does not endanger any employee.
Qualifications And Requirements

  • Journeyman’s card or equivalent experience – Preferred
  • 6+ years of industrial equipment maintenance experience – Preferred
