Job summary

The State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, seeks a Maintenance Repairer 2 to perform journeyman level work maintaining a facility serving over 150 veterans.

You will work Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with possible emergency weekends/holidays; compensation includes on-call pay and biweekly earnings. The role requires 2-year building trades experience or related education.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in building construction, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment.
• Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction or related field.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management/engineering or related courses.

Responsibilities

• Works in the maintenance department performing electrical, plumbing and mechanical tasks.
• Discuss evaluations and performance with the Facility Maintenance Manager A and address disciplinary actions if needed.
• Assure quality assurance through audits and staff in-services to improve maintenance.
• Report resident complaints and incidents with the Facility Maintenance Manager A.
• Maintain a safe, clean and effective work environment for residents and staff.
