Job summary

Veterans Health Administration’s Orlando VA Medical Center is seeking a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic to manage day-to-day maintenance and operation of mechanical systems, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and repair of water, steam, medical gas, vacuum, and related systems, with work guided by blueprints and plans.

The role requires physical fitness to work in hot, confined spaces and to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit and able to lift parts and supplies weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Experience maintaining mechanical systems and equipment in building environments.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical aspects of building and facilities.
• Install, maintain, repair, and inspect water, steam, medical gas, vacuum systems, and related equipment.
• Inspect piping, valves, control fittings, and auxiliary equipment; repair and fabricate as needed.
• Work from building plans to layout piping systems and equipment.
