Job summary

CG Automation & Fixture (CGAF), located in Comstock Park, MI, is seeking a Machine Builder to join a fast-paced team. You will assemble components according to blueprints, operate shop tools, and participate in machine start-up and packaging.

Ideal candidates have 2-3 years in automation, experience with sub- and full-assembly, strong math and computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Willingness to work overtime and collaborate across departments is valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prefer 2-3 years of automation experience.
• Prefer 2+ years in sub-assembly and full-assembly of automated machines.
• Strong math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction.
• Follow safety and environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns.
• Safely operate hand and power tools, mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, saws, and shears.
• Analyze assembly blueprints, schematics, and specifications for machine building operations.
• Verify conformance of parts to BOM and drawings using calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
• Lay out hole locations and drill/tap holes on parts for assembly.
• Align components for assembly and fasten with bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets.
• Construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment using hand and power tools.
• Handle machine start-up and packaging.

• Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes on parts for assembly.
• Align components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolts, screws, dowels, weld, or rivet parts together.
• Construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
• Machine start-up and packaging

Essential Education & Abilities

• Ability to interact effectively with various departments in the organization.
• Prefer 2-3 years of experience in automation.
• Prefer 2 years+ of experience in sub-assembly and full-assembly of various automated machines and tooling processes.
• Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong math /computer skills.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly.
• High Schools degree/GED.

Salary: $25 - $30 per hour
