Position Summary

As a Journeyman Lineman at Oncor, your duties include the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor Construction Standards Manuals. A Journeyman Lineman shall be proficient in all aspects of line work, working on energized conductors and equipment at distribution voltages using approved protective equipment. Work involves climbing wood poles, ladders, and operating bucket trucks safely.

Additional Duties
  • Provide leadership and training for employees in lower classifications. Lead a crew in the absence of a Crew Supervisor.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extended hours and emergency call-outs, 24/7 availability.
  • Physically able to lift 75 pounds. Maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Prioritize safety for oneself, colleagues, and the public.
  • Participate in safety programs and abide by the Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties on service trucks and act as a first responder as required.
  • Be available for on-call, overtime, and travel outside the district.
  • Report within 60 minutes to the assigned service center, with 30 minutes preferred.
  • Subject to DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook.
  • Good communication skills for team collaboration.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, plus 4+ years of utility construction experience.
  • Valid Texas Class A CDL required.
  • Applicants with lineman school certificates or an associate degree in electrical technology with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proof of lineman and safety training programs required.
