Job summary

Entergy in Madison, Mississippi seeks a skilled lineman to install, maintain, and repair 34.5 kV OH/UG facilities, transformers and regulators, and to operate bucket and derrick trucks. The role requires travel up to 25% and on-call availability for outages.

Applicants should have at least five years of lineman experience and a valid Class A CDL; must work safely, often under demanding conditions, and be able to lead other linemen while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Construct, build and maintain OH/UG electric facilities with primary voltages up to 34.5 kV, including installation, removal and maintenance of primary line facilities and secondary services.
  • Install OH/UG transformers and wire all types of transformer banks.
  • Install and wire regulators, capacitors and reclosers.
  • Drive trucks of various sizes and types.
  • Operate equipment such as aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks.
  • Read and understand job prints and sketches.
  • Identify materials and their functions.
  • Set up and climb poles of all sizes in open areas, rear alleys and energized lines.
  • Be available for on‑call duty and emergency response.

Essential Functions
  • Traverse uneven terrain with tools up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in extreme heat and cold.
  • Work in confined spaces and alone when performing restoration services.
  • Perform physical tasks including digging, pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 80 pounds.
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Operate trucks and heavy equipment safely around energized lines and equipment.
  • Work at heights for extended periods.
  • Work overhead from a bucket truck on energized overhead lines.
  • Climb, descend and balance on wooden/steel structures, poles and ladders.
  • Perform emergency rescue operations if needed.
  • Exercise sound judgment in dangerous environments.
  • Follow safety rules.
  • Work up to 16 continuous hours per day.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Perform basic computer tasks such as time entry, task logging and email response.
  • Communicate effectively with the team.
  • Manage stress and handle tense situations.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Work overtime when necessary.
