Job summary

Cleveland Utilities Authority is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to construct and maintain our electrical transmission and distribution facilities in the Cleveland, Tennessee area. This municipal utility serves the Cleveland/Bradley County region.

Responsibilities include overhead and underground work, following safety procedures, and mentoring apprentices. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a certified apprenticeship, and a valid Class A CDL; physical ability to climb and perform

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience as Journeyman Lineman preferred.
• Completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship program.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Physical ability to climb and perform heavy manual work.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, construction and repair of electrical transmission and distribution systems, both overhead and underground.
• Observe required safety procedures and equipment at all times.
• Perform energized and de-energized line work using ladders, climbing tools or aerial lift trucks.
• Train and instruct apprentice linemen in duties they are to perform.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
• Live within 15 miles of the main campus or maintain a 30-minute commute.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Working Line Foreman/Supervisor.

Cleveland Utilities Authority, a municipal utility providing electric, water, wastewater and fiber services to the Cleveland, Tennessee/Bradley County area, is seeking a Journeyman Lineman to construct and maintain our electrical transmission and distribution facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform all maintenance, construction and repair of electrical distribution and transmission systems, both overhead and underground, in an accepted manner concurrent with industry and Cleveland Utilities’ standards.
• Carry out the performance of the job utilizing all required safety procedures and equipment.
• Perform energized and de-energized line work utilizing ladders, climbing tools and/or aerial lift trucks.
• Train and instruct apprentice linemen in duties they are to perform.
• Ensure tools and equipment are in safe working condition and well maintained.
• Ability to perform call duty after designated training period and must live within 15 miles of the main campus or 30-minute commute via Google Maps.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Working Line Foreman/Supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Experience as a Journeyman Lineman preferred.
• Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship program with copies of completion certificates.
• Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License.
• Physical ability to climb and do heavy manual work.
