Job summary

Dynetek Solutions seeks a Journeyman Lineman to construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electric distribution lines. You will work from bucket trucks and pole platforms, energize and de-energize conductors, and lead crews on occasion while following NESC and company safety standards.

The role requires an accredited lineman apprenticeship or 4+ years journeyman experience, valid Class A CDL within 90 days, OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred), and ability to travel for project or storm

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Lineman apprenticeship program OR a minimum of 4 years of documented distribution line construction experience at the journeyman level.
  • Journeyman Lineman certification / ticket, or equivalent verifiable field experience.
  • Proven proficiency in overhead and underground distribution construction and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of NESC, utility construction standards, and safe grounding/clearance procedures.
  • Demonstrated competency in energized line work using rubber gloving and hot-stick methods.
  • Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • CPR / First Aid and pole-top / bucket rescue certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electric distribution lines and equipment.
  • Install, replace, and maintain poles, cross-arms, insulators, conductors, transformers, cutouts, reclosers, and switches.
  • Perform energized (hot) and de-energized line work using proper rubber gloving and hot-stick methods.
  • Frame and set poles, string and sag conductor, and complete pole-top and bucket work.
  • Install and terminate underground primary and secondary cable, pad-mount transformers, and junction equipment.
  • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, pullers, tensioners, and other line construction equipment.
  • Apply and verify proper grounding, protective grounds, and personal protective grounding procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and restore service during outages, including emergency and storm-restoration call-outs.
  • Read and interpret construction prints, staking sheets, work orders, and utility standards.
  • Perform switching, tagging, and clearance procedures in coordination with the utility and Foreman.
  • Direct and mentor Apprentice Linemen and Groundmen on safe work practices and construction techniques.
  • Conduct and participate in daily tailgate/job-briefing safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
  • Inspect, maintain, and account for tools, rubber goods, PPE, and vehicles in safe operating condition.
  • Complete daily field documentation including timesheets, material usage, and job-site reports.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property owners, utility inspectors, and dispatch on-site.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, NESC, DOT, and company safety standards and quality requirements.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Journeyman Lineman is a skilled, certified field professional responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. Working from bucket trucks, digger derricks, and on poles and structures, the Journeyman Lineman installs, energizes, and de-energizes primary and secondary conductors, transformers, and related equipment. This role performs work independently and as part of a crew, may direct apprentices and groundmen, and serves as a working crew lead in the Foreman’s absence. All work is performed in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Dynetek safety protocols, and applicable federal and state regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electric distribution lines and equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited Lineman apprenticeship program (e.g., IBEW/NECA, ABC, or equivalent) OR a minimum of 4 years of documented distribution line construction experience at the journeyman level
  • Journeyman Lineman certification / ticket, or equivalent verifiable field experience
  • Proven proficiency in overhead and underground distribution construction and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of NESC, utility construction standards, and safe grounding/clearance procedures
  • Demonstrated competency in energized (hot) line work using rubber gloving and hot-stick methods
  • Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred
  • CPR / First Aid and pole-top / bucket rescue certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, on-call rotations, and travel to project or storm sites as required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with investor-owned utilities (IOUs) and electric cooperatives
  • Storm-restoration and mutual-aid deployment experience
  • Experience with underground residential distribution (URD) and pad-mount equipment
  • Substation, metering, or transmission exposure a plus
  • Ability to read and work from GIS mapping and utility engineering plans
  • Experience in multi-state or regional project deployments
