S2Alliance Inc. is seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to support a suite of enterprise applications for U.S. CBP.

This role emphasizes backend development with Java, Spring Boot/Spring Cloud, and microservices, with REST APIs and database work across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. You will collaborate in an Agile environment, participate in code reviews, and contribute to modernization and maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE and Java 8 or higher.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and Spring Data.
• Experience designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and software development best practices.
• Experience with Gradle, Git, JSON, and related development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE technologies.
• Develop backend services and applications using Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architecture.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and web services.

This role is primarily focused on Java backend development, Spring/Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and database technologies. Experience with React or Angular is a plus but is not required.

• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and scripting.
• Experience working within Agile software development methodologies.
• Understanding of software release procedures, coding standards, design documentation, configuration management, and change management processes.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Front-end development experience with React or Angular is a plus.
• Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience supporting large-scale federal government applications is desirable.
• Previous experience supporting DHS or CBP programs is a plus.

Relocation: Candidates should be local to the Ashburn, VA area or willing to relocate.
