Job summary

International Paper in Springfield, OR is seeking an Hourly – Maintenance Journeyman Level 1 (J1) Millwright. The role offers a pay rate of $42.62 per hour and a standard dayshift schedule (6am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday) at the Springfield Mill.

The successful candidate will assist journeymen-level technicians with routine maintenance and participate in our world-class training program, which combines paid hands-on experiences and classroom instruction to prepare you for future promotion.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old and legally eligible to work in the US.
  • Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three years of work experience in MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING.
  • Willing to meet online testing, interview, and hands-on assessment; drug screen and health assessment are required.

Responsibilities

  • Install machine and equipment according to lay-out plan, blueprints and other drawings.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, dial indicators and laser alignment equipment.
  • Install machinery, new and existing equipment.
  • Repair and lubricate machine and equipment.
  • Refurbish/maintain valves, pumps, gear boxes, bearings, agitators, conveyors, turbines, paper machines, lime kiln.
  • Measure for bearing clearance and shaft diameters.
  • Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues.
  • Fabricate structural materials as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Eligible for employment in the US
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in any one of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING
  • Must be willing to meet the following requirements:
  • Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands-on assessment of skills
  • Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
  • Undergo an job related health assessment as a condition of employment
  • Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
  • Wear required safety equipment
Preferred Skills and/or Experience
  • Associates degree or certification(s) in any of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in any one of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTING
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
The Job You Will Perform

This position will assist journeymen-level mechanical maintenance technicians in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently. Our world class Global Manufacturing Training program provides paid hands‑on experiences and classroom instruction in order to prepare you for your next promotion

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

Millwright

  • Install machine and equipment according to lay‑out plan, blueprints and other drawings
