Job summary

EZARC in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Ironworker (Welders) to join our growing team. This role requires reading and interpreting steel erection drawings, fabricating and erecting structural steel, and maintaining a strong safety culture on site.

Expect to work with crane operators and crew, perform rigging, welding (3G/4G), and lead by example under tight deadlines. A minimum of 4+ years of ironwork experience and OSHA/MSHA safety awareness are preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as an Ironworker.
• Experience with tight deadlines and safety requirements.
• Ability to operate a telescopic forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift.
• Ability to weld 3G and 4G with different welding applications.
• OSHA/MSHA or other safety certifications are a plus.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Great communication with crane/forklift operators using hand signals or radio.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret steel erection and shop drawings.
• Create layouts on concrete, existing structures, and materials to be fabricated.
• Shakeout steel in order of erection sequence per drawings.
• Prepare hardware for materials to be erected.
• Determine proper rigging slings and hardware according to load weight.
• Ensure rigging tools are safe before each use.
• Establish communication with crane operator and crew using signals.
• Detect faulty operation of equipment and notify Foreman.
• Fabricate metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor revisions.
• Work with crew to erect structural steel members.
• Maintain a high safety culture.
• Lead tasks to meet tight deadlines.
• Signal or direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads safely.
• Attach loads to rigging for moving using lines or tag lines.
• Select rigging gear according to load weight.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces.
• Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
• Weld components and prepare surfaces for welding.
• Operate hand and power tools used in welding.
• Determine welding methods based on metallurgy and geometry.
• Mark materials with job numbers and identifiers.
• Prepare surfaces to remove scale, rust, moisture, or contaminants.
