Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician (Journeyman) to maintain, repair, and install instrumentation and electrical equipment across facilities. You will read schematics, perform calibrations, and ensure safety/compliance while contributing to asset reliability.

Requirements include a 2-year+ degree in Instrumentation or related field, a 5-year apprenticeship, 3 years of related experience, DCS/PLC knowledge, and TWIC eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Instrumentation or related field.
• Completion of a 5-year apprenticeship program.
• 3 years of experience in a related field.
• Digital, electronic and pneumatic instrumentation and controls with troubleshooting.
• Motors, power and control circuits and related troubleshooting.
• Smart transmitters and field devices and tools to check them.
• Schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, PID drawings.
• Knowledge of DCSs (e.g. Invensys I/A, Emerson Delta V) and PLCs (e.g. Modicon, Rockwell).
• TWIC card or ability to obtain one.
• Life-critical processes: LOTO, hot work, confined space entry, energized electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and install instrumentation and electrical equipment.
• Read schematics, one-line diagrams, and ladder logic for troubleshooting.
• Perform tests, calibrations, and linearity checks for accurate readings.
• Keep maintenance records and report findings in CMMS.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing and training sessions.
• Support safety, environmental compliance and asset reliability improvements.
