POSITION SUMMARY
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial air-conditioning equipment and multi-zone heating and cooling systems to ensure they are working efficiently, properly and affordably.
What you’ll do:
- Install, remove, maintain and repair HVAC systems and related equipment.
- Study customer’s scope of service. Follow the preventative maintenance schedule and perform routine system maintenance, including cleaning and replacing parts, testing for leaks, adjusting controls and making minor repairs where needed.
- Troubleshoot for electrical problems. Make repairs as required.
- Document and track preventive maintenance accordingly and in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Maintain efficient environmental conditions. Adjust system controls to recommended settings. Test system performance using special tools and test equipment.
- Conserve, recover and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants used in A/C and refrigeration systems in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Test systems for gas leaks, carbon monoxide issues, and fluid leaks.
- Install and repair fuel and water supply lines.
- Evaluate customer needs and make recommendations for correction and/or improvement.
- Respond directly to customer questions, explain services provided, and provide Dispatch with detailed summary of related costs for billing purposes.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis/support for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
- Mentor/train assisting apprentices.
- Perform all work within the confines of Brandt’s safety rules and regulations.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Ability to read blueprints, layout plans and wiring diagrams
- Proficient at inspecting, troubleshooting and making repairs on:
- air-cooled chillers (recip, screw, or scroll) less than 100 tons
- RTU, package units, water-source heat pumps, and split systems (any size)
- AHU’s
- cooling towers
- vane axial fans
- pumps
- air compressors
- air dryers
- VAV boxes
- VFD’s
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe
- Ability to read and interpret EPA regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy
- Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug-screen and physical tests
- Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Brandt’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.
What you bring to the table:
- High school degree (or GED) and successful completion of sheet metal apprenticeship program or related trade school
- OSHA-10 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
- Current Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate
- Valid Texas Driver License and clean driving record
