Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a skilled trades professional to support campus maintenance across Plumbing, Steam fitting, HVAC, and Millwright tasks. The role requires journeyman-level experience in large facilities, licensure in plumbing and/or HVAC, and the ability to work independently.

The position pays $48,000–$59,000 annually, is regular full-time, and operates on-site. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and be prepared for a criminal conviction check.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience in large commercial/institutional settings.
• Virginia Journeyman’s Licenses in plumbing and/or HVAC; license within 11 months or reciprocal within 6 months.
• Experience installing, troubleshooting HVAC flow controls.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
• Record keeping with work orders/inventory.
• Ability to perform routine Plumbing/Mechanical, HVAC or Millwright tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork; work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks in Mechanical trades (Plumbing, Steam fitting, HVAC, Maintenance Millwright) for campus maintenance/installation.
