Job summary

Opti Staffing Group is seeking a Journeyman HVAC Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems in residential and commercial settings. The role requires working independently under general supervision and may mentor apprentices.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent, EPA Section 608 certification, 4–5 years of hands-on HVAC experience, and a clean driving record. Travel to job sites is required as needed.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman HVAC license or certification as required by state/local jurisdiction.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of hands-on HVAC experience (or completion of a registered apprenticeship).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to read technical schematics and diagnostic reports.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, thermostats, and ventilation components
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national codes (e.g., building codes, EPA refrigerant handling regulations)
  • Handle refrigerants safely in accordance with EPA Section 608 certification requirements
  • Communicate with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and maintenance recommendations
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts/materials used
  • Mentor and supervise apprentice technicians as needed
  • Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment

Job Summary:

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs

Work Environment:

Field-based role requiring travel to job sites; may include on-call/emergency service hours.
