Job summary

Western Area Power Administration seeks a High Voltage Electrician to operate and maintain substations, transmission lines, and related equipment at journeyman level, in California. You will install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair high voltage switchyards and control systems with strict safety and cost controls.

The role involves climbing, heavy lifting, overtime, and occasional travel. CDL within 120 days, PPE usage, and ability to work in various weather conditions are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform journeyman electrician work in high voltage power systems (69kV+).
• Power factor testing experience on 69kV+ equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, construct, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high voltage switchyards, substations, and related equipment.
• Perform switching in high voltage substations and switchyards.
• Climb structures up to ~65 feet and work in confined spaces.
• Provide technical guidance to apprentices and other craft employees.
