Job summary

PG&E in Oakland seeks a journeyman-level technician to install, operate, test, and maintain gas compressor stations and transmission facilities. The role requires hands-on use of precision tools, welding and shop skills, and ability to work at heights.

The position is field-based, outdoors in all weather, with travel across PG&E service territory and adherence to DOT and safety rules. On-site requirements include PPE and random drug/alcohol testing.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License.
• Ability to work at heights and wear PPE.
• Proficiency with bench, hand and machine shop tools.
• Welding and maintenance knowledge for gas systems.

Responsibilities

• Installs/maintains/repairs mechanical and other equipment associated with the operation of gas facilities.
• Performs overhauls on engines and compressors and station auxiliary equipment.
• Writes and holds pipeline and station clearances.
• Installs, operates, tests, adjusts, repairs and maintains natural gas compressor station and gas transmission facilities.
• Ability to travel throughout PG&E service territory.
• Work planning and safety documentation to support projects.
