Job summary

Western States Equipment Co. in Lewiston, Idaho is seeking a skilled technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair engines, powertrains, and electrical/hydraulic systems on heavy equipment.

This safety‑sensitive role demands meticulous work and adherence to PPE and safety policies. You will read service manuals (STW, SIS, ET), perform inspections, document work orders, and collaborate with a team to keep customer equipment productive.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years equivalent experience in a Caterpillar or similar environment with hydraulic, engine and powertrain experience.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Responsibilities

• Promote safety and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs on engines and powertrains.
• Inspect and repair engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems and powertrain components.
• Complete service reports and use manuals (STW, SIS, ET).
