Job summary

The City of Buffalo seeks a skilled Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and lighting across multiple facilities and systems. You may supervise others and work independently on field trouble-shooting, with on-call duties for power outages or crises.

Required are an apprenticeship or journeyman level experience, a current NYS driver's license, and knowledge of high voltage systems; a City of Buffalo Master Electrician license can substitute for experience.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an Apprenticeship Program and/or four years of full-time experience as an Electrician at journeyman level.
• Possession of a current NYS Driver's License; operating as required for job locations.
• Master Electrician License issued by the City of Buffalo may substitute for the four years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair wiring, lighting systems, conduits and cables.
• Maintain and repair generating equipment, breakers, transformers and related gear.
• Inspect and repair electrical controls in heating and ventilation systems.
• Troubleshoot during power failures and respond to emergency trouble calls.
• Verify work orders, document progress and maintain records.
• Assist Traffic Signal Technician for signal controllers and related devices as needed.
