Job summary

The New York State Office of Mental Health in Buffalo is seeking a Trades Specialist (Electrician) to perform journeyman electrical duties, plan and lay out work, and diagnose trouble in electrical systems across a facility.

Responsibilities include repairs, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment, reading blueprints, testing for faults, and training others. A valid New York driver's license is required to be considered.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled tradesperson or equivalent training.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of applicable standards and electrical code regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs journeyman level electrical duties.
• Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and related equipment.
• Locates and diagnoses electrical malfunctions using test instruments (ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter).
• Plans new or modified installations consistent with specifications and code.
• Trains and supervises others.
• Reads plans and diagrams to guide work.
