Job summary

City of Norfolk is seeking an Electrician II to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across municipal facilities. The role uses Asset Essentials to document work orders and requires safe operation of a bucket truck in elevated areas.

The position emphasizes OSHA compliance and collaboration with contractors and city staff. Ideal candidates will hold a current Journeyman Electrician's license, have 2+ years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of experience in facility maintenance or municipal/commercial settings.
• Demonstrated experience operating a bucket truck and working safely at heights.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA electrical safety standards, including lockout/tagout.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in city facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems and inspections.
• Operate a bucket truck and other equipment safely to access elevated fixtures or systems.
• Follow OSHA and department safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE usage.
• Respond to high-priority electrical service calls with timely and professional support.
• Document work performed and materials used in the Asset Essentials system.
• Communicate updates to supervisors, coworkers, and building occupants.
• Assist contractors by providing facility access and sharing system knowledge.
