Qualifications

  • Completion of high school education or equivalent.
  • Trade-specific Trades Helper program, apprenticeship, or an associate degree.
  • Five years of electrical trade experience, including four years commercial installation.
  • State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Master’s Electrician license required for progression at 24 months.
  • Expert knowledge of electrical codes, rules, and safety precautions.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL may be required with endorsements.
  • Must furnish own hand tools.
  • Frequent lifting 26–75 lbs; occasional over 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair secondary power distribution systems (120-600V).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and related systems (security, fire alarms).
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications for repairs and projects.
  • Correspondence via email, training, meetings, and professional development.
